City Water Commission
Mission
Established by Resolution No. NS-22 in 1948, and reestablished by Ordinance No. 87-10 in 1987, the Water Commission advises the Council in all matters pertaining to the Santa Cruz Water System and its maintenance and management. The Commission also makes studies of long-range plans for securing sources of domestic water supply for the city and reports to the City Council its conclusions and recommendations for the improvement and extension of water systems, including sources, storage, transmission and distribution of water to consumers.

Under the applicable statues of the State of California and the City Charter of the City of Santa Cruz California the By-laws of the Water Commission set forth the rules and regulations governing the organization and procedures of the City Water Commission.

Meetings
The Water Commission meets in the Santa Cruz City Council Chambers, located at 809 Center Street, on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. For more information on commission members, meeting procedures, and how to participate, visit Meeting Information(PDF, 102KB).
Please Note: As of March 1, 2023, participation in meetings for city advisory bodies is in-person only. Members of the public can continue to stream the audio for the meetings from the city’s website; however, public comment will no longer be taken virtually and those wishing to address the commission must be in attendance at the location provided on the agenda.
