Emergency Shelter (referral required)
The City operates two, 24/7 emergency shelters. Participants have access to basic services such as showers and cooking facilities, with staff providing daily oversight and support. Participants are required to meet with shelter staff once a week to complete an Individual Service Plan, identifying steps to move you toward stable, permanent and affordable housing. This site is low barrier — pets, possessions, and partners are welcome. Participants must adhere to a code of conduct and a set of community-generated agreements.
Contact City staff at 831-359-5996 to complete an intake procedure, interview to determine readiness to participate in an individual case plan, and be notified in the event of an opening.
Safe Parking (referral required)
These City operates two safe parking programs providing long-term and overnight parking for oversized vehicles. Hygiene services and refuse disposal are available on site. Participants must adhere to a code of conduct.

Health Care and Food Programs
If you need healthcare or referrals you can stop in to see a public health nurse at the Homeless Persons Health Project at 115-A Coral Street in Santa Cruz. They provide a number of services to people that do not have insurance and can help you apply for Medi-Cal and other benefits. Walk-ins are welcome. Call Second Harvest Community Food Hotline at 831-662-0991 for information on neighborhood pantries, hot meal kitchens, and food programs.
Hot Showers and Day Services
Housing Matters at 115 Coral Street offers different services to people experiencing homelessness. These range from housing navigation and employment training programs to basic day services such as bathrooms, hot showers, and access to a mailroom.
Rental Assistance
Community Action Board of SC County offers a Rental Assistance Program to Santa Cruz County residents faced with an eviction notice. Phone Number: (831)-457-1741.
