Mission

To collaborate with local stakeholder partners and law enforcement to ensure best practices to respond to and prosecute violent crimes against women.

Vision

To end sexual assault, sexual harassment, and domestic violence in the City of Santa Cruz through prevention, programs, and public policy.

About

The Commission of Prevention of Violence Against Women was established on September 8, 1981, through the adoption of Ordinance No. 81-29 by the City Council of Santa Cruz. Its creation was a response to the high rates of domestic violence and sexual assault in the city and the need for a community-led effort to address these issues.
