Please Note: Using the Santa Cruz Police Department Police Online Citizen Reporting System you can report the following incidents:
- Harassing Phone Calls
- Hit and Run
- Identity Theft
- Lost Property
- Shoplifting
- Theft
- Vandalism
- Vehicle Burglary
- Vehicle Tampering
Upon Submission of your Online Report
- You will see the words: "Your online police report has been submitted."
- You will be emailed a temporary Tracking Number.
Report Process and Tips
- You can only use the Online Police Reporting System if you do not know the suspect. If the suspect is known, call Non-Emergency Dispatch at (831) 471-1131.
- The system will give you 30 minutes to complete your report before it times out.
- If filing a vandalism report, you may submit digital photos with your report.
- All reports submitted to the Online Police Reporting System will be reviewed.
- Upon review, if your submission is rejected, you will receive an email with further instructions.
- Upon review, if your submission is approved, you will be emailed your permanent Case Number.
- If further investigation of your case is needed, you may be contacted.
Please note that filing a false police report is a crime.
What if I don't have access to a computer for filing my report online?
There is a computer located in our Lobby at 155 Center St. in Santa Cruz. Lobby Hours are Monday - Thursday from 9am - 4pm.

Can I use the SCPD Online Police Reporting System if the crime happened in a different city?
No, If a crime took place outside of the City of Santa Cruz contact the appropriate agency.

What if this happened on a state Freeway?
If this took place on a state Freeway please call the California Highway Patrol Office nearest you.
What is a known suspect?
A known suspect is when you or someone else knows the person and knows where to find the person who committed the crime.
What do I do if I don’t have an email address?
If you don’t have a valid email address where you can send and receive email, you can sign up for a free account at many sites including Yahoo, Google and MSN. Otherwise, please call (831) 471-1131 to contact a police officer or visit the Santa Cruz Police Department at 155 Center St.
How do I add supplemental information to an existing case?
To add more information to an existing report you have submitted online, please complete a supplemental report. After you open up the online police reporting system, choose the second option seen down below. Type in your original report number & click continue.
Please Note: In order to file a supplemental report, your original report must have already been approved & a permanent Case Number issued.
