Apply for a Scholarship

Thank you for your interest in applying for a Friends of Parks and Recreation (FOPAR) Scholarship. Awards are based on a number of factors, including number of applicants, program costs, financial need and other variables. The following youth scholarships are available to families looking to register for Summer Session programs:

Youth Scholarship Eligibility
General City of Santa Cruz residents, all summer programs
JR Scott Memorial City of Santa Cruz residents, Junior Guards only
Junior Guard Boosters Those living outside the City of Santa Cruz, Junior Guards only

The Summer 2025 scholarship application period is closed. The deadline for completed applications was April 4, 2025 by 11:59PM.

  • You'll be notified by email if you're approved for a scholarship.
  • A scholarship credit will be applied to your family member's WebTrac account.
  • You're responsible for creating your WebTrac account prior to submitting your application.
  • Summer 2025 Registration will begin on April 12.
  • All registration is first-come, first-served.
  • If you receive a scholarship, you can request that the credit be used for an activity for which you have already registered or you can register for an offering later in the term.

Summer scholarship credit must be used by August 1, 2025. The remaining scholarship balance will be removed from your account and the funds returned to Friends of Parks & Recreation for future scholarships.
