Candidate Nomination Period

The candidate nomination period for the November 3, 2020 election is July 13th - August 7th. If an incumbent does not file by 5:00 p.m. on August 7th, the deadline is extended 5 days for anyone other than the incumbent to file papers.

Candidate Filing Period Extended

The nomination period has officially been extended. Anyone wishing to pick up nomination papers must contact City Clerk Bonnie Bush for an appointment. The deadline is Wednesday August 12th at 5:00 p.m. bbush@cityofsantacruz.com

Section 602 (Qualifications) of the City Charter states "A person shall be eligible to be nominated for, or to hold office as a member of the Council, only if such person is a registered qualified voter of this City, and shall have been for at least thirty (30) days next preceding nomination or appointment, a resident of the City of Santa Cruz, or of territory annexed thereto."
