Emergency Permits

Emergency Permit (Planning Only)

Pursuant to Section 24.04.187 of the Zoning Ordinance, an Emergency Permit may be issued to protect life and property from imminent danger or to restore, repair, or maintain public works, utilities, or services during and immediately following a natural disaster or serious accident.

A city staff member will visit the site to verify emergency. If the emergency is not evident, city staff may request that an engineer, arborist, other professional is involved in the determination. City staff may also request to see documentation associated with the emergency such as dated photos, an incident report, receipts for professional work, etc.). An application form and estimate of fees for the permit(s) required will be provided by planning staff, and a complete application for the required permits must be filed and paid within 30 days of approval.

For tree emergencies, this form should only be used for properties that are within the Coastal Zone. For all other properties, please contact the Parks and Recreation Dept at (831) 420-5270.
